Geneva Convention 1949 : The Law of War
We all know about the war going between Russia and Ukraine. But many of us must have thought about it if there is any law of war that fighting countries must follow.
Yes, there are the law of war. During world war 2, more than 50 million people died, and the world faced an economic crisis. It was the time when the world saw how destructive they were. To stop this destruction in the future, the world leaders made the law of war at the Geneva Convention in 1949.

Some Important Law of WAR:
- During the war, no army will kill civilians.
- No army can target any residential area, buildings, school, colleagues, and home.
- No army can target medical workers, hospitals, and journalists.
- No army will target historic buildings, religious places, and cultural heritage.
- No army will target the shelter homes build for the civilians.
- No army will attack in the demilitarized zones.
- During the war, the enemy can target the country’s military bases.
- If a soldier of an enemy country surrenders, he will not be treated badly.
- Humane treatment is necessary when taken prisoner of war.
- When a country attacks another country, it is necessary to warn it.
