This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the information which The Comparativist (“we” or “us”) collects from data subject (“you” or “user”) when you use, access, or share your personal information when using The Comparativist services (“SSO Login” or “Credit Points”).

This Policy shall not apply if you access or use The Comparativist Services outside of the European Union (“EU”).

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with the Terms of Use applicable to the The Comparativist services you are using.

Please keep in mind that when you provide information to us on a third-party site or platform (for example, via our applications like social media login) the information we collect through those third-party sites linked with us is covered by this privacy policy, and the information the third-party site or platform collects is subject to the third-party site or platform’s privacy practices. Privacy choices you have made on the third-party site or platform will not apply to our use of the information we have collected directly through our applications. Please also keep in mind that our sites and applications may contain links to other sites not owned or controlled by us and we are not responsible for the privacy practices or use of Personal Information of those sites. All capitalized terms that have not been specifically defined herein shall have the same meaning as provided under the Terms of Use. What happens to your data collected by us prior to May 25, 2018?

If our systems can identify from the information, we possess that such information belongs to a user from the EU region, then we shall drop you an email informing you about the data we possess and seek your consent to continue storing and processing the information. You should not access or use The Comparativist services by means of any mechanism or technology which conceals your actual geo-location or provides incorrect details of your location (for example, use a virtual private network (VPN) to access The Comparativist Services).

We will not be responsible or liable for any collection, storage or processing of your personal information or data if you use any mechanism or technology to access or use Website or The Comparativist Services which conceals your actual geo-location.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

We do not collect any further information from you, if not specifically mentioned hereinabove.

Follow

When you interact with any of The Comparativist websites (such as follow articles, follow other users, follow activities, provide comments etc.) The Comparativist will collect your follow activities and create a The Comparativist profile against those activities for you to refer to them at a later stage and review articles and your activities. The Comparativist doesn’t collect any additional personal information but only tracks your behavior on various The Comparativist Websites and the activities that you choose to follow or the users you wish to follow. Any comments, views, shares that are performed by you on The Comparativist Websites will be publicly available information.

Usage of our Mobile Applications

This policy shall also apply to our Mobile Applications that are available in the country governed by a data protection regulation. These Mobile applications have been updated to make them compliant to the country governed by a data protection regulation and few of the services have been discontinued in certain platforms in the Countries governed by a data protection regulation.

You are urged to update to the most current version of certain apps listed and/or to delete certain apps that we no longer provide access, service or support so that we do not collect, or store information of users located in the country governed by a data protection regulation. If you use an older version of these apps and/or access discontinued services, then we may collect, store and process your information. In such case we would not be responsible or liable for such collection, storage and processing of your information.

Any personally identifiable information provided by you will not be considered as sensitive if it is freely available and/or accessible in the public domain like any comments, messages, blogs, scribbles available on social platforms like Facebook, Twitter etc. Any posted/uploaded/conveyed/communicated by users on the public sections of the “Application” becomes published content and is not considered personally identifiable information subject to this Privacy Policy.

In case you choose to decline to submit personally identifiable information on the Application, we may not be able to provide certain services on the Application to you. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the same at the time of opening your account. In any case, we will not be liable and or responsible for the denial of certain services to you for lack of you providing the necessary personal information.

Information sharing

The Company shares your information with any third parties without obtaining the prior consent of User in the following limited circumstances:

a) When it is requested or required by law or by any court or governmental agency or authority to disclose, for the purpose of verification of identity, or for the prevention, detection, investigation including cyber incidents, or for prosecution and punishment of offences. Your Controls and Choices

  1. Accessing & rectifying your personal information

When you use the Services website/application or any of its sub sites), we make good faith efforts to provide you, an access to your personal information that is available in the dashboard of your profile and shall further ensure that any personal information or sensitive personal data or information found to be inaccurate or deficient by you may be corrected or amended in the dashboard as feasible as per(your own discretion at your own end.

We retain your personal information as long as necessary for us to provide services to you or you explicitly ask us to not retain your data. If you no longer want us to use your information, then you should delete and close your The Comparativist account. Please note that if you request for the erasure of your personal information;

For example, if we suspend a The Comparativist account for fraud or safety reasons, we may retain certain information from that account to prevent that user from opening a new account in the future.

• We may retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations. For example, we may keep some of your information for tax, legal reporting and auditing obligations.

• Information you have shared with others (e.g., Comments, Reviews, etc.) may continue to be publicly visible on the The Comparativist, even after your account is cancelled. However, attribution of such information to you will be removed. Additionally, some copies of your information (e.g., log records) may remain in our database, but are disassociated from personal identifiers.

• Because of the way we maintain certain services, after you delete your information, residual copies may take a period of time before they are deleted from our active servers and may remain in our backup systems.

You can delete your information by using the delete function/option through your profile settings. Please note that this will perform deletion of all the information stored by the SSO. This means you no longer exist as a user in any of The Comparativist properties. Please note that if you have multiple accounts with us, then you will have to separately delete each of your profile through the settings option available in dashboard.

  1. Objection to Processing

In event, where your personal information is processed for direct marketing purposes or any contests or promotions or other services, you will have an option at your end to unsubscribe to the aforesaid, at any time by clicking on the link provided in the emails received Please be aware that if you do not allow us to collect personal information from you, we may not be able to deliver certain experiences, and services to you, and some of our services may not be able to take account of your interests and preferences. If collection of personal information is mandatory, we will make that clear at the point of collection so that you can make an informed decision whether to participate. We may take 30 days from the date of receipt of request to complete your requests. However, if the nature of the requests are excessive in nature or would require significant effort then may ask for an extension of 60 days by giving a prior notice to you with the reason for the extension. In case you want to invoke any of the above mentioned rights also for other information stored separately by the Sites, you can do so by referring to their Privacy policy.

Children’s Privacy

The Comparativist is not intentionally designed for or directed at persons less than 16 years of age. The Comparativist does not knowingly permit any person who is under 16 years of age to register for the services or to provide any other personally identifying information. If The Comparativist becomes aware or is brought to its knowledge that any personally identifiable information of persons less than 16 years of age has been collected on The Comparativist then The Comparativist will take the appropriate steps to delete any such information.

It is our policy not to collect and process any personal information from children below 16 years of age or offer to send any promotional materials to persons in that category. The Comparativist does not seek or intend to seek or receive any personal information from children. Data transfer, storage and processing globally

We operate globally and may transfer your personal information to individual companies of The Comparativist affiliated companies or third parties in locations around the world for the purposes described in this privacy policy.
